Yunnan Province is one of the most diverse and alluring destinations in China. The impressive and beautiful Meili Snow Mt. is located in the NW corner of Yunnan province, W of Deqen County. The main peak is Kawa Gebo(6740m). The Sino-Japan joint climbing team were very close to the main peak - Kawa Gebo when it began to snow heavily. The team were forced to abandon the climbing plan, and the whole team died on the way of returning to 3rd. camp at 5100m. Some of the bodies were not found until in July, 1998. |

| Yubeng Village | |||
| Tucked away at the foot
of Mt Kawagebo (or Mt Meili), one of Tibet's most sacred mountains is
the stunningly beautiful and isolated village of Yubeng. With the exception
of the occasional climbing expedition and buddhist on a pilgrimage to
the mountain and sacred waterfall that is a half-days' walk away, outsiders
rarely visit Yubeng. The villager's timeless way of life - herding yak,
plowing the fields and fetching water from the nearby glacier stream
- has changed little over the centuries. We will follow the same trail that pilgrims take on their way to Mt Kawagebo, in search of the last paradise. |

Our introductory trek takes us on a inner Kora (pilgrimage route) into a incredibly stunning area of ancient forest, lush flowering valleys, dramatic glaciers and secluded Tibetan monasteries. And visit the sacred waterfalls under towering 7000m snow capped peaks. |
